Meet Dr. Eli Joseph the youngest Black professor to teach at four renowned universities simultaneously

Dr. Eli Joseph, at the age of 29, has made history as the youngest Black professor to teach simultaneously at four renowned universities. Earlier this year, he achieved this remarkable feat by teaching at Columbia University, New York University, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

As of August 2023, Dr. Joseph has added Dartmouth College’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to his impressive roster, solidifying his position as the youngest instructor to teach at four prestigious institutions simultaneously.

It is a rare privilege for students to graduate from these esteemed universities, and even fewer educators have the opportunity to teach at any of them.

However, Dr. Eli Joseph stands among the exceptional few who teach at multiple institutions simultaneously. Alongside his teaching roles at Columbia University, NYU, and UCLA, he has now joined the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Dartmouth College.

Dr. Joseph’s journey to success has been marked by resilience in the face of failure and rejection. Throughout his life, he encountered over 1,500 rejections from employers, 30 colleges, and 75 scholarship foundations. Elite institutions such as Princeton, UPenn, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, and Brown University turned down his applications.

In a twist of fate, Dr. Joseph received a rejection letter from Columbia University in 2012. Today, he serves as an associate faculty member in the applied analytics program at Columbia University School of Professional Studies.

Similarly, after being rejected by the New York University Tandon School of Engineering in 2016, he now teaches graduate students at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

Not only did Dr. Joseph face numerous rejections from firms in finance, technology, and managerial consulting, including JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Google, Amazon, Facebook, BCG, McKinsey, Deloitte, and Bain, but he also endured personal hardships such as the loss of his older brother last year.

However, Dr. Joseph transformed his failures into motivation for success. He recently delivered two TEDx talks titled “Time Is Your Biggest Competition” and “No Trace, No Case.”

As one of the youngest members of the World Economic Forum Expert Network, he plans to collaborate with elite researchers to develop tangible solutions that benefit companies across various industries, enhancing the well-being of both individuals and organizations worldwide.

Dr. Joseph earned his Doctorate in Business Administration from Felician University, becoming the first graduate to complete the curriculum at the age of 24.

He has authored a book titled “The Perfect Rejection Resume: A Reader’s Guide to Building a Career Through Failure,” sharing his experiences and insights on turning setbacks into stepping stones.
