Meet Sunil Waghmare, the Guinness World Record holder for the longest singing marathon

The well-known Indian singer officially set the record with a non-stop singing marathon lasting 105 hours. Waghmare, a noted singer, was honored by his city for this remarkable achievement.
He embarked on his musical journey at the age of 14 and received basic music training, completing three classes. According to Waghmare, his guru, Bhaskarrao Moroney, taught him everything, and he never looked back.
To achieve his Guinness World Record, Waghmare began his singathon at 11 am on Monday, dedicating it to the singing legend Mohammad Rafi.

His diverse playlist featured songs from Rafi, as well as popular hits from masters like Mukesh, Hemant Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. The goal was to sing over 900 songs during the marathon.
The record attempt commenced at 11:06 am on March 3, with a variety of popular Indian songs sung without repetition within a 4-hour interval. The event concluded on the evening of March 7, after which Mr. Waghmare celebrated with a sing-along session with his supporters.

Currently, Sunil Waghmare’s singathon record is under threat, as Afua Asantewaa Aduonum from Ghana is on a journey to break it.
Afua began her challenge on December 24, 2023, inspired by Hilda Baci from Nigeria. As of the publication of this article, she has achieved 84 hours and is still counting.
