Ministry of Health secures 11,226 Financial Clearance to recruit health professionals

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has secured a new Financial Clearance for the recruitment of some Health Professionals into the Health Sector.
The Health Minister Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu has disclosed that, Government through the Ministry of Finance has given Financial Clearance to recruit eleven thousand, two hundred and twenty-six (11,226) qualified Health Professionals into the Ghana Health Service.
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has been given financial clearance to recruit 11,226 Degree and Diploma Nurses and Midwives who have completed their one-year mandatory rotation.

Mr. Agyeman said, the new Financial Clearance given has increased the recruitment data of Health Professionals to 120,367 under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government since 2017.
He explained that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government has earlier recruited a total of 109,141 Health Professionals since 2017 into the Health Sector.
The 11,226 Financial Clearance to recruit Degree and Diploma Nurses would have increased the data on employment of Health Professionals to 120,367.

He added that, this figure excludes the recruitment done by the Ghana Ambulance service.
In a statement, the Ministry said, “The emoluments of the 11, 226 degree and diploma nurses to be recruited should be charged against the compensation of employees vote of the Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2021 annual estimate. The Ministry is to ensure the nurses have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll to enable Controller and Accountant General’s Department effect payment of the salaries,”

According to the information available, the effective date of the appointment should not exceed 1st December, 2021, because the Financial Clearance expires on 31st December, 2021.

“The Controller and Accountant General is requested to effect the payment of their salaries and make appropriate deductions of social security and income to SSNIT and Domestic Tax Division of Ghana Revenue Authority,” it added.
