Ministry of Health with its stakeholders launch National Public Health Laboratory Network Strategic Plan

The Ministry of Health, together with its stakeholders has launched the National Public Health Laboratory Network Strategic Plan 2023-2027, alongside other pivotal Laboratory Quality Documents.
This Strategic Plan outlines a comprehensive framework for improving laboratory services, including infrastructure, capacity building and quality assurance systems that meet international standards for ameliorating public health in Ghana.
The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah in his keynote address, communicated the key documents that will guide laboratory operations and ensure adherence to quality standards. These include the Ghana Laboratory Quality Management System Checklist, Ghana Laboratory Handbook, Ghana Laboratory Quality Manual, Ghana Laboratory Safety Manual, National Biosafety Guideline and the National Biosafety Training Curriculum.
The Director in charge of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, on behalf of the Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, recapitulated that the plan provides a roadmap for achieving excellence in laboratory services through a coordinated and sustainable national public health laboratory network in outbreak responses, surveillance and other health emergencies.
He reiterated that with the continuous support and collaboration of all stakeholders, the guidelines and strategies would be implemented and operationalized to realize the full potential of the laboratory systems in the country.
