The Former Volta Regional Minister, Modestus Ahiable, a key figure in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, January 21, 2024. His son, Abraham Ahiable, confirmed the news, appealing for privacy and support during the family’s mourning period.
Modestus Ahiable, a former Member of Parliament for Ketu North in the Volta Region, served as the Volta Regional Minister from 1993 to 1997 during the Jerry Rawlings administration. Beyond regional politics, he played a crucial role in the NDC as the Volta Regional chairman and later served as Ghana’s ambassador to Benin from 2009 to 2013, spanning the John Mills and Mahama era.
Abraham Ahiable, actively engaged in NDC politics in the Volta Region, announced his father’s passing on Facebook, expressing profound sorrow and seeking understanding and support during this challenging time.
His death has brought sorrow and deep cut in the hearts of many.
However, arrangements for the funeral will be communicated in due course, as the political and local communities join together to remember and honor the legacy of Modestus Ahiable.
