The Ministry of Education (MoE) has clarified issues on the 2022 Professional Development Allowance meant for teachers across the country.

There was a purported statement on proposed deduction of GH¢ 295.00 to GH¢ 430.00 from this year’s Professional Development Allowance for the purchase of Modem and TLMs for teachers.

According to the Ministry of Education led by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, their attention has been drawn to the circulation of such false and malicious news story on social media alleging that deductions would be made from the Professional Development Allowance (PDA) of teachers, for the purpose of purchasing Modems and Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) for them.

The Ministry wishes to state that no such arrangements have been made, and as such these publications on the alleged deduction from the PDA should be disregarded.

The Ministry further clarified that, it must be noted that teachers remain pivotal in the promotion and development of education in Ghana and are key to the transformation agenda being executed by the Government

Again it is worth to note that, the Ministry remains committed to paying the allowance to enable teachers build their professional capabilities.

This simply means that, every teacher under the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ministry of Education (MoE) will be paid the approved amount of Professional Development Allowance in November 2022.

Earlier, the National President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Rev. Isaac Owusu said, the information in circulation is false and must be disregarded or treated with the necessary contempt it deserves.

GNAT has also explained that, it is not the duty of Teacher Unions to purchase Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) for teachers.
