Renowned television show host Nana Aba Anamoah has sent a message to President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the proposed E-Levy.
In the 2022 budget statement presented by the finance minister Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, the Government have decided to tax mobile money transactions.
It is proposed that 1.75% will be charged on every mobile money transaction which exceeds GH¢100.
In a tweet, Nana Aba Anamoah stated that Ghanaians cannot pay the momo tax because 1.75% is too high. She further stated that, the momo tax is against everything the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been trying to achieve over the last 5 years.
“I don’t think @MBawumia’s personal position has changed when he says he “doesn’t think mobile money should be taxed”.
It is against everything he’s been trying to achieve over the last 5 years.
1.75% is high @NAkufoAddo. We can’t.”

As usual, some Ghanaians have been commenting on Nana Aba Anamoah’s tweet. Some are captured below.
“It’s funny how Ghanaians think it’s the duty of the politician to make life better for us. I think it’s time we the citizens take one bold decision, that this country must not fail. These grown ups feel entitled to wealth so they’ll do anything to get there.’
‘Dr Mensah Otabil once said “politician will not put food on your table but can determine the kind of food you put on your table”. It’s very true statement coz if taxes become higher, wouldn’t it affect ur business and livelihood?’
