NABCo beneficiaries, rotational nurses, midwives & youth in afforestation to protest over unpaid allowances

The Coalition of Nation Builders Corp (NABCo) Beneficiaries, Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association, and the Youth in Afforestation, among other groups, have announced their plans to hold a demonstration on October 15.
The purpose of the protest is to bring attention to the long-standing issue of unpaid arrears owed to these groups by the government.
Nana Takyi, the spokesperson for the Coalition of NABCO Beneficiaries, stated in an interview with Citi News that the demonstration would be called off if the government promptly released the necessary funds to settle the outstanding payments.
“Our primary objective is to urge the government to allocate funds for the settlement of the accumulated arrears within various schemes, such as the NABCO scheme, the Service Scheme, and the Youth in Afforestation Scheme. We simply want our rightful compensation, as we have also been affected by the rising costs of electricity, water bills, and other expenses.” He said.
He further stated that “We are currently facing severe financial hardships and are unable to afford basic necessities. Even purchasing a loaf of bread has become a challenge. Hence, our demand from the government is straightforward: release the funds needed to clear our accumulated allowances. If our payments are made today, there will be no need for the planned demonstration. However, since the government has chosen not to address this issue, we are left with no choice but to proceed with the protest.”
