Nana Kwame Bediako discloses the person who introduced Shalimar Abbiusi to him

Nana Kwame Bediako, the founder and leader of the emerging political movement New Force Movement, has provided details on how he came to know Shalimar Abbiusi, a repatriated Belgian national who previously served as the spokesperson for the movement.

Shalimar gained attention through various social media posts where she highlighted the activities of the New Force Movement, particularly those led by Nana Kwame Bediako. However, she was subsequently arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service on charges of acquiring a student residence permit through false declaration. These charges have been contested by her legal team.

After being briefly released by the Kaneshie District Court, Shalimar was rearrested and subsequently repatriated within a day.

During this time, questions arose regarding the involvement of a non-Ghanaian in the country’s political affairs, especially considering Nana Kwame Bediako’s absence during her legal battles.

However, in an interview on TV3 NewDay, Nana Kwame Bediako explained that he engaged Shalimar as a spokesperson for his political journey because no Ghanaian was willing to take on the role.

“At the beginning of the New Force movement, we approached several individuals for various positions. We tried many people to be the spokesperson, but they were all reluctant and hesitant. We were facing challenges,” Nana Kwame Bediako revealed during the interview.

He further explained that Shalimar had been in the country for over three years and had previously worked as a presenter for GHOne and as a model. Nana Kwame Bediako had the opportunity to meet her through Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu. Their initial encounter took place during a donation event in Mepe, after which they began discussing her potential involvement in the movement.

Nana Kwame Bediako took the opportunity to extend an open invitation to the public to join the New Force Movement, emphasizing that his doors are always open for those interested in participating in the political initiative.
