NDC questions Procurement of Past Questions for SHS Students

Dr. Clement Apaak, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has expressed concerns regarding the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) plans to acquire past examination papers for final-year Senior High School students.
The Deputy Ranking Member of the Education Committee in Parliament raised questions about the procurement process and criticized the decision as being suboptimal.

Dr. Apaak believes that the procurement, which carries a hefty price tag of GH¢68 million, lacks transparency. He questioned why the government opted for sole-sourcing in this procurement instead of approaching the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for a more cost-effective photocopying of the past questions.
According to him, the government’s choice to award the contract to an undisclosed party at a questionable cost raises concerns about the deal’s transparency and the potential waste of state funds.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Dr. Apaak highlighted the secretive nature of the deal and its potential to benefit only a select few within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He emphasized the need to hold such transactions accountable if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) comes into power. He went on to state that failure to do so would result in public resentment, and he even suggested expanding the Nsawam prison to accommodate those responsible.
