New calendar for 2021/2022 academic year for Colleges of Education

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission has announced approved Calendar for the 2021/2022 academic year for the Forty-six (46) Accredited Public Colleges of Education across the country.
In a letter written to the President of the Principals Conference (PRINCOF) of Colleges of Education, the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission Professor Mohammed Salifu said, it is recommended that Continuing students report on Saturday, November 6, 2021 and First Year students on Saturday, January 8th, 2022.

Citing reasons for the new academic calendar, Professor Salifu said, this is to allow for re-sit examinations for continuing students and for new admissions to cover the current graduating cohort of Senior High School students.
He further directed that, management of the various Colleges of Education are to take note that all Colleges are to ensure that fresh admissions do not exceed numbers that were admitted in the 2019/2020 Academic Year.

Prof. Salifu again said, this is to acknowledge receipt of the proposed calendar for the 2021/2022 Academic Year Principals Conference (PRINCOF) submitted for consideration and approval.
He indicated that, the decision on the new academic calendar has been reached after careful consideration and consultation with the Hon. Minister for Education.

With this, approval has been given to the proposal as structured, based on a fourteen (14) week duration and subject to adjustment of the reopening dates.
The College managements were again asked to kindly take note of the changes above and adjust the calendar accordingly.
