NPP forms 11-member committee to review flagbearer aspirants
NPP inaugurates vetting process
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), in its pursuit of selecting a presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, has established an eleven-member committee.
This committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a thorough vetting process for all aspirants who have expressed their interest in contesting as the party’s flagbearer.
The selection of the committee members took place during a meeting held on May 30, where the National Steering Committee carefully identified individuals who would be well-suited for this important task.
The primary objective of the committee is to meticulously assess and scrutinize the ten party stalwarts who have submitted their forms to participate in the party’s flagbearer race. This critical vetting process will play a pivotal role in determining the NPP’s presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
In accordance with Article 10(3)(F)(ii) of the Party’s Constitution, the National Steering Committee, representing the National Council, made the appointment of Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye as the Chairman of the Vetting Committee for the Party’s Presidential Primary Election.
This decision was reached after an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, and after seeking input from various stakeholders. The party issued a statement to announce this appointment.
In addition to Chairman Aaron Mike Oquaye, the Vetting Committee consists of the following members: Kwasi Amoako Atta, Stephen Abankwa Sekyere, Osei Bonsu Amoah, Lord Oblitey Commey, Frank Davies, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, and Adelaide Ahwireng.
Osei Bonsu Amoah, who is a Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency and a member of the Vetting Committee, has been appointed as the Committee’s spokesperson. Evans Nimako, the Party’s Director for Research and Elections, has been designated as the Committee Secretary.
