NPP parliamentary candidate for Sege Constituency Eunice Lasi resigns

Madam Eunice Lasi, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Sege Constituency in the 2020 elections, has tendered her resignation from the party. The decision comes on the heels of the recently concluded NPP Orphan Constituencies primaries.

Eunice Lasi, who had high hopes of representing the NPP in Sege Constituency, announced her resignation, expressing her dissatisfaction with the internal workings of the party. Her resignation has raised questions about the party’s internal processes and treatment of candidates.

Ms. Lasi, a prominent figure within the NPP, had been an aspiring candidate in the just-ended NPP Orphan Constituencies primaries. However, citing a series of incidents spanning several years, she outlined her reasons for stepping down in her resignation letter.

One of the incidents she highlighted occurred in 2018 when she vied for the position of women organizer for the Sege constituency. Despite successfully going through the necessary procedures, Ms. Lasi was unexpectedly eliminated from the race just two days before the election, without any explanation provided. She later discovered that the decision was allegedly orchestrated by the Regional Chairman, Divine Otoo Argohom.

During the 2020 election campaign, Ms. Lasi encountered further hurdles. While some constituency executives offered their wholehearted support, the Regional Chairman, Mr. Divine Otoo Agorhom, and other party officials allegedly sabotaged her campaign due to their dissatisfaction with the election outcome. Ms. Lasi expressed her concerns in a letter to the Presidency but did not receive a response.

Furthermore, former constituency executives and the council of elders were suspended and dissolved by the then constituency executives, a move that had a detrimental impact on Ms. Lasi’s campaign. Nevertheless, she endured these challenges and continued her pursuit.

In the lead-up to the 2023 Parliamentary race, Ms. Lasi received an indefinite suspension letter from the constituency executives just a week before the nomination forms were to be picked. Suspecting another attempt to sideline her, she decided to forge ahead.

However, prior to the election, the constituency Chairman, Mr. Augustus Adjaottor, popularly known as Chairman Spain, allegedly expressed his unwillingness to work with Ms. Lasi if she were to win the election. On the day of the election, Ms. Lasi claims that efforts were made to eliminate her from the race, with the use of money and threats to influence the outcome.

In her resignation letter, Ms. Lasi expressed her disappointment at not being treated fairly since she decided to contest in the Sege constituency on the party’s ticket. She stated that she no longer wishes to endure further setbacks and, as a matter of principle, humbly requested the acceptance of her resignation as a member of the New Patriotic Party.

RESIGNATION FROM THE PARTY AS A MEMBER

With reference to the above captioned headline, I want resignation effective immediately from the New Patriotic reasons for my Decision. officially tender in my Party. Below are some reasons for my Decision.

In 2018, I decided to join the constituency election executive race to represent as a women organizer for the party in Sege constituency. After a successful filing, vetting and balloting, I was eliminated two days to the election and never given any reason till date. I later found out the decision was taken to eliminate me on the instructions of the Regional Chairman Divine Otoo Argohom.

In 2019 also, I decided to run for the parliamentary race. There were all sort of petitions and machinations to get me out of the race but God being so good and with help from Mr. Odarlai Parker the regional secretary, I sailed through and won.

In 2020 election, Whiles some constituency Executives wholeheartedly supported me throughout the election process, The Regional Chairman Mr. Divine Otoo Agorhom and other Constituency executives decided to sabotage my campaign throughout on the hasis that their preferred candidate didn’t win the elections. I stated all these reason in my initial letter to the Presidency after the election upon request but did not get any response.

During the 2020 campaign, Former constituency executives and council of elders were suspended and dissolved by the then constituency executives even though I resisted during the 2020 election. Letters were copied me till date which I never got any of such copied letters. This single action destroyed lots of things but I still endured.

In the run up to the 2023 Parliamentary race, I received an indefinite suspension letter from the constituency Executives stating various reasons a week to the initial picking. of nominations forms for the parliamentary race, I sensed it was another scheme to get me out but I still fought ahead.

Prior to the Election, the constituency Chairman Mr. Augustus Adjaottor popularly known as Chairman Spain and his executives went round telling polling station executives he cannot work with me when I win the election. On the day of election as well, super powers were sent to eliminate me from the race again and influenced the election with money and threats.

It is of Good intentions I wanted to serve my beloved party and my constituency but I have had lots of setbacks which I would no longer want to endure. I have not been treated fairly ever since I decided to contest in Sege constituency on the Party’s ticke and as a matter of principle, I humbly request you to accept my resignation as member of the party.

It was a great pleasure serving as a parliamentary candidate in the run up to the 2020 election in Sege and would love to thank everyone for giving me such honors. I wish the party Good luck in all its future endeavors.
