The Saarah-Mensah Auditorium was filled with uncontrollable energy, including chanting, thrills, screams, and fervor during the second Quarter-final Stage competition of NSMQ 2023.

This intense face-off featured three elite schools: Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary, Aburi Presby SHTS, and St. James Seminary SHS, all of whom had advanced directly from the One-Eighth Stage.

In the end, Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary emerged victorious, securing a well-deserved spot in the Semifinals. To top it off, they also won the GH₵500 Goil Super Bonanza Prize, adding to their triumph.

Competing for a place in the Semi-finals were St. James Seminary SHS and Aburi Presby SHTS. The atmosphere heated up in Round One as contestants’ knowledge of general topics in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology was put to the test.

During this round, there were some technical challenges that led to a thirty-minute delay in the contest. However, the technical team’s quick action resolved the issue, and the competition continued. After Round One, St. James Seminary SHS was in the lead with 25 points.

In the Pepsodent Speed Race, Pope John excelled by correctly answering most of the questions, amassing 26 points and turning their fortunes around.

In Round Three, the Problem of the Day provided an opportunity for the contestants to display their academic prowess.

Pope John made a comeback by scoring nine (9) out of 10 for the Problem of the Day. St. James Seminary SHS followed closely with eight (8) out of 10, while Aburi Presby SHTS scored 4 out of 10.

In the One-eighth Stage contest, three schools secured their spots in the Quarter-finals Stage. Pope John won with an impressive score of 56 points, defeating SIMMS SHS and Sunyani SHS.

St. James Seminary SHS had a tie-breaker with 44 points against Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls’ SHS.

Aburi Presby SHTS secured victory with 47 points, defeating KNUST SHS and T.I. AMASS, Kumasi. However, in the Quarter-finals, Pope John’s emerged victorious with an impressive score of 48 points.
