NTC Adjudged 2nd Best Performing Agency Under the Ministry of Education
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has been recognized as the second-best performing agency within the Ministry of Education for the year 2022. This recognition was made at the 2023 Quarter 1 Breakfast Coordination Meeting and 2022 Performance Evaluation Feedback Forum held at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
The assessment was carried out by independent evaluators, who evaluated 14 agencies under the Ministry of Education and assessed them on their institution-specific and common outputs and deliverables.
The Honourable Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, urges all agencies under the Ministry of Education to prioritize their support for struggling schools to uplift their image. He also charged the agency heads to have a growth mindset for their respective agencies, and not a fixed mindset. This is a call to action for all agencies to continually improve and strive for excellence in their respective roles.
The National Teaching Council is mandated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023) to promote teacher professionalism in Ghana. The Council is responsible for licensing and registering teachers, keeping an up-to-date database of teachers, developing and periodically reviewing professional standards and code of ethics, conducting teacher licensure examinations, and providing a framework for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of teachers.
The Registrar of the National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku, expressed his gratitude to the Board, staff, and other stakeholders for their invaluable support, which has contributed to the council’s recognition as the second-best performing agency within the Ministry of Education.
This recognition follows the council’s previous recognition as the overall best agency in 2020 and the first runner-up in 2021.
