On February 1st, 2023, Godswill Kwaku Ocloo’s medical expenses were paid in full thanks to a donation of GHC50,000 made by a delegation led by Kwadwo Kwarteng Badu, Secretary for Society and Welfare of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).
The gift was given as a part of the NUGS Welfare Fund Initiative, which was launched by the welfare committee to help students who were in need of financial assistance.
Duobeng Anane Mark, the president of the Offinso College of Education’s Student Representative Council (SRC), wrote to the secretary for society and welfare on June 18th, 2022, requesting financial assistance for Josephine Boatemaa, a student and the mother of Godswill, age six. Godswill was struck by a school bus that was in reverse, resulting in fractures to his right leg.

After receiving care at St. Patrick Hospital, he was then sent for surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The National Lottery Authority and the Good Causes Foundation’s assistance allowed NUGS to generate enough money to assist Josephine and her family in paying for Godswill’s surgery. Mr. Badu thanked both groups for their assistance throughout this crisis.
