Our ethos must still be etched on entertaining, educating and informing – Pius Enam Hadzide urges media practitioners

The former Deputy Information Minister Honourable Pius Enam Hadzide has urged media practitioners to uphold the values of entertainment, education, and information dissemination, while speaking out against recent incidents of invasion at UTV station.

Pius Enam Hadzide, known for his ability to present balanced views, began by acknowledging his differences of opinion with fellow media panelist A Plus.

He made a profound declaration, stating, “I disagree vehemently with many of the things my brother A Plus says on radio and TV, but I will defend with my life, his right to say them”.

He firmly believes that protecting the rights of individuals to express their opinions, regardless of personal disagreement, is a cornerstone of a democratic society.

He expressed concern that their anger had escalated to a point where they completely lost control.

Stressing the need for greater discretion and self-restraint, Hadzide appealed to both media practitioners and audiences to approach disagreements with civility and respect.

He also stated that physical attempts to impose a certain kind of programming are not the solution. He firmly stated that resorting to force or intimidation to influence the content of media outlets is unacceptable.

Despite condemning the unfortunate visitation incident, Hadzide reminded media practitioners of their significant impact on society.

He urged them to recognize that people are actively listening and watching, underscoring the responsibility to deliver content that is entertaining, educational, and informative.
