Over 835,000 Ghanaians in Ghana are uncircumcised -GSS Report

According to the 2022 Demographic Health Survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), the Service brought out that around 5 percent of Ghanaian men are not circumcised, amounting to approximately 835,000 individuals.

The survey, encompassing diverse aspects such as the prevalence of HIV/AIDS-related behaviors, STDs, health insurance, and health coverage, also reveals that 95% of Ghanaian men aged 15-49 have undergone circumcision. This significant majority is largely attributed to religious, traditional, and cultural reasons.
Godwin Odei Gyebi, the Acting Director of Demography at the Ghana Statistical Service, emphasized the comprehensive nature of these indicators. He expressed confidence that this array of insights would provide valuable information about the health and well-being of the populace.
Furthermore, Gyebi highlighted the utility of these insights in evaluating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets.
