Over 900 Ghana School of Law students pass 2023 examination

The leadership of the 2023 batch of students at the Ghana School of Law is elated with the remarkable pass rate in this year’s call to the bar, marking a significant milestone for legal education in the country.
According to reports, over 900 individuals have successfully passed the rigorous examination administered by the Independent Examination Committee of the General Legal Council. This includes 499 students who were initially denied admission into the Ghana School of Law two years ago but were subsequently granted admission following a series of protests and appeals.
In an exclusive interview with Citi News following the release of the results, Odupong Agyapong Atta-Agyapong, the immediate past SRC president of the Ghana School of Law, expressed his excitement about the forthcoming call to the bar ceremony, which is expected to be the largest in history.
“It’s heartening to witness the jubilation among our students on their WhatsApp pages and statuses,” he stated.
“For the first time, we are going to witness a historic moment with over 900 students being called to the Ghana bar. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the challenges and events of the past.”
Atta-Agyapong took the opportunity to encourage students who did not find their names on the successful candidates’ list to remain steadfast in their pursuit of legal careers. He emphasized that this setback is not the end of their journey but rather a temporary pause.
“It’s crucial to remember that this is not the end of the road,” he affirmed. “We have a mini-call scheduled for March next year, and it is expected that these students will be given the opportunity to sit for the supplementary exams. When they excel in these exams, they too will be called to the bar.”
As the legal community continues to evolve and expand, this historic moment reinforces the commitment of the institution to foster a diverse and accomplished legal profession in Ghana.
