Pentecost University Introduces a new Course “Mortuary and Funeral Services Studies”

A University belonging to the Church of Pentecost, Pentecost University has successfully launched a new course in “Mortuary Science and Funeral Studies” ahead of the 2023 academic year.

The course “Mortuary Science and Funeral Studies” successfully happened on the University’s main campus in Sowutuom in Accra on Tuesday 22nd November 2022.

During the launch of the programme, the Vice-Chancellor of the Pentecost University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua stated that as humans, we cannot fight death but structures can be put in place to minimize the agonies associated with it.

“we can’t fight death but we can develop structures to minimize its associated agonies and preserve the dignity of our departed loved ones.” – Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua at the ceremony further added that “We realized there are legal implications and this will be handled by experts from our Faculty of Law whilst the cultural, psychosocial aspect of grief and pastoral dimension will be handled by our Pentecost School of Theology, Ministries and Leadership.”

“Not only that, the major engineering aspects associated with refrigeration, and decomposition will be handled by the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Computing.”
