President Akufo-Addo honors top 46 performing BECE students
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, alongside the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon Rev Ntim Fordjour, recognized the outstanding achievements of forty-six (46) top-performing students from the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The President’s Independence Day Awards ceremony has become an annual tradition to celebrate and honor students who have displayed exceptional academic excellence.
This year’s awards were presented to thirty-six (36) students who achieved the highest raw scores in the 2023 BECE, both male and female, from each region, including four (4) students with special needs. Additionally, ten (10) students from various private schools across the country were also recognized for their outstanding performance.
The awards serve as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment demonstrated by these exceptional students throughout their academic journey. Their achievements not only reflect their individual brilliance but also highlight the importance of quality education and the significant role played by teachers in shaping young minds.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo applauded the efforts of all teachers across the country, acknowledging their pivotal role in nurturing and guiding students toward success. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the education sector and providing the necessary resources to empower both students and teachers.
“I commend the teachers across the country for their tireless efforts in imparting knowledge and shaping the future leaders of our nation,” President Akufo-Addo stated. “Their dedication and commitment to excellence are crucial in the development of our educational system.”
