President Akufo-Addo presents GH¢2 million to 1,000 disabled entrepreneurs under PEMED 

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has today presented an amount of two (2) million Ghana cedis (Gh¢2M) to some disabled male entrepreneurs, a programme introduced by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in 2017 in order to support disabled entrepreneurs among others.

During a short ceremony at the Jubilee House today, Friday, 24th July,2020 where the event was launched, President Nana Addo said, about one thousand (1,000) disabled entrepreneurs who are all men have benefited from the intervention.

In a statement intercepted by Coverghana.com.gh on Friday, 24th July, 2020, on the president’s official social media handles announcing the news disclosed that, the presentation was one of the initiatives under the Ministry of Business Development’s Presidential Empowerment for Male Entrepreneurs with Disability (PEMED).

Adding further, Nana Akufo-Addo said, “Fifty percent (50%) of the financial support on offer are grants, whilst the other fifty percent (50%) are interest free loans payable over two years. This is a demonstration of Government’s commitment to empower financially the one thousand (1,000) beneficiaries of this initiative, and help mainstream them into national economic activity.”

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2019 presented similar funding to one thousand (1,000) disabled women entrepreneurs under the Ministry of Business Development’s Presidential Empowerment for Male Entrepreneurs with Disability (PEMED).
