President Intervening for 14 dismissed Students is not Different from Mahama’s Pardon for the Muntie 3 – Franklin Cudjoe

The President of “think tank” group IMANI Africa, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe has reacted to the letter from the Presidency to the Ministry of Education which seeks to intervene for the 14 SHS students dismissed and bared from writing their final year examinations.
It could be recalled that the Ghana Education Service issued a press release in which the service indicated that it has dismissed and bared some 14 Senior High School students from writing their final year examination for using vulgar language against the President Nana Akufo Addo.

However, days after the Press Release from the Ghana Education Service, the Presidency has written a letter to the Ministry of Education urging the Minister to meet with the Ghana Education Service and intervene for the students so that they can be allowed to write their final year examination.
Touching on the series of events that have characterised the writing of this year’s final examination, the President of IMANI, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe in a statement indicated that the President have done well by intervening for intervening for the students who gravely insulted and abused his person.
However, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe was also quick to add that, the steps taken by the President to pardoned the students to enable them write exams is not different from the decision John Dramani Mahama took when he was in power to show clemency to the vagabond Muntie 3 after thousands signed a petition for them to be pardoned because that is what responsible fathers do.
In a Facebook Post, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe wrote;
I think the President did well by intervening to have the students who gravely insulted and abused his person pardoned to enable them write exams at least. This is what responsible fathers do. It is no different from JM’s decision to show clemency to the vagabond Muntie 3 after thousands signed a petition for that outcome.
They are are not because the president directed that after the readmission any other scheduled punishment can be administered to the 14 students. Therefore, part of the punishment still stands, unlike the muntie 3 who were released entirely. Secondly, in this instance it is the president who is directly affected unlike the muntie 3 who threatened female judges. Come again, Franklin.
