Sam George hails IGP for his good work during Assin North by-election
Mr. Samuel Nartey George (Sam George)
Sam Nartey George, a member of parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency, has praised Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, for sending officers to Assin North ahead of and during Tuesday’s by-elections.
Speaking during an interview on TV3 monitored by coverghana, the Ningo Prampram Constituency lawmaker said;
“Let me salute the security services. I met IGP Dampare and he is someone I am his biggest critics and so when I met him in Assin North at Gangan A and B Polling Station, I said to him ‘IGP, I congratulate you for the deployment you have done today. You know I have been critical of you but I must salute you for the deployment you’ve done today. I am happy with you’.”
“They said as an MP my official bodyguard was not allowed to carry his weapon and I didn’t understand why but the IGP insisted on it and said nobody should carry weapons even though we saw some of the NPP private security, individual in plain clothes carrying weapons.
“But at least at the polling station there was enough police presence to deter any of the NPP miscreants who were brought in, so I celebrate them.”
