Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa exposes Kitchen Scandal
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
In a recent expose, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has shed light on what he calls the “Kitchen Scandal,” a series of events characterized by betrayal, double standards, nepotism, and blatant misuse of public funds.
The focus of the scandal is the alleged influence peddling and dishonesty within President Akufo-Addo’s inner circle, particularly by Gabriel Asare Otchere-Darko, also known as Gabby Otchere-Darko.
Ablakwa’s investigation reveals the workings of the so-called “Kitchen Cabinet” and its negative impact on national progress.
According to the intercepted documents in his possession, it appears that Gabby Otchere-Darko wields immense power within the government and is often referred to as the “Prime Minister” of Ghana.
The scandal centers around a staggering GHS187,356,969.55 liability imposed on the Ghanaian taxpayer.
This exorbitant amount, which exceeds the entire budgetary allocation for several ministries and institutions, was allegedly orchestrated by Gabby Otchere-Darko, who managed to garner support from sections of the government, including the Attorney-General and elements within the Finance Ministry, to favor his new client, West Blue Company Limited.
Remarkably, the scandal contradicts the opposition stance of the NPP, which fiercely resisted the West Blue Contract during President Mahama’s tenure.
However, once in power, the NPP government, led by President Akufo-Addo, took a completely different stance and showed strong support for the contract, with Gabby Otchere-Darko advocating for it.
Ablakwa also raises concerns about the legal opinions issued by the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, which seem to favor Gabby’s position.
These opinions reportedly failed to consider inputs from the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority, raising suspicions of potential collusion.
In light of these revelations, Ablakwa demands the following actions to be taken:
- President Akufo-Addo must instruct his Finance Minister and the GRA to ignore Gabby’s ultimatum and refrain from paying the GHS187.3 million.
- President Akufo-Addo must urge his Attorney-General to withdraw his pro-Gabby legal opinion to safeguard Ghana’s interests in any potential litigation.
- President Akufo-Addo should caution Gabby Otchere-Darko to cease issuing threats to GRA officials.
- An independent panel should be constituted urgently to investigate the matter.
The Finance Committee of Parliament should initiate a full-scale parliamentary inquiry into the GHS187.3 million West Blue saga.
Ablakwa assures the public that he and his team will persistently pursue the truth until this alleged scandal is thoroughly exposed and rectified. They are prepared to stage a massive demonstration if urgent action is not taken by the President to address the matter.
