Senior Staff Association at UCC Suspends Strike Over Unimplemented Conditions of Service
University of Cape Coast (UCC)
The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), UCC chapter, has called off its one-week industrial action after management at the University of Cape Coast agreed to engage in talks to resolve the concerns and grievances of the association’s members.
The SSA-UoG, UCC had embarked on the strike on April 13 over the university management’s failure to implement negotiated and agreed conditions of service.
However, following a ruling by the National Labour Commission on April 19, the association was directed to suspend the strike action and engage with the university management to resolve the matter.
Management has invited the leadership of the SSA-UoG, UCC to begin talks on April 21 and the association has directed its members to return to work.

“Following the National Labour Commission’s ruling on April 19, the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), UCC chapter has suspended its indefinite strike action.
The NLC directive was issued regarding a matter between the SSA-UoG, UCC Local and the University of Cape Coast’s management, calling for the association to end the strike and for the university management to engage in talks to resolve the raised concerns and grievances.
Management has invited the SSA-UoG, UCC Local leadership to begin talks on April 21, and in compliance with the NLC’s directive, the association has suspended the strike action that began on April 13.
Members have been directed to return to work from April 21, and the association expressed appreciation to its members for their continued support and trust in leadership.”
