In Harris County, Texas, Biles attended Benfer Elementary School. Biles shifted from public education to home schooling in 2012, allowing her to extend her training time from 20 to 32 hours per week. She would graduate from high school in mid-2015. Biles officially committed to UCLA on August 4, 2014, and signed a National Letter of Intent in November 2014, intending to delay enrollment until after the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in 2016. Jonathan James Owens is a strong safety for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. He attended Missouri Western University before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.

After middle school at Loyola Academy of St. Louis, Owens attended Christian Brothers College High School (CBC) under Coach Scott Pingel. Owens was named CBC Linebacker of the Year during his high school career.

Owens played defensive back for Missouri Western State University (MWSU) after a redshirt year in 2013. Owens was named MWSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year for his last season in 2017. Owens was also named to the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Second Team for the 2017 season. Throughout his academic career, Owens was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. He studied pre-physical therapy and aspired to be a doctor.
