Mr. Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka is expected to be arraigned before the criminal division of the Kumasi High Court on Wednesday June 1, 2022.

This was made known in a press release from the office of the special prosecutor, dated May 24, 2022.

According to the release, Mr. Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, a nominee for the position of Chief Executive of Juaben Municipal Assembly has been charged with twenty-six (26) counts of corruption.

The charges were in respect of a public election – arising out of two public elections conducted in September and November 2021 for the confirmation or otherwise of his nomination.

In a video, purported to have been emanating from a meeting to confirm or otherwise Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka, New Juaben Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka was seen demanding for refund of monies paid to some Assembly Members to influence then to get him confirmed.

The Special Prosecutor, in a letter dated November 2, 2021 invited Mr. Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka for questioning and subsequently granted him bail.

Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka failed in the attempt to get him confirmed as the first ever MCE for the newly created municipality, carved out of the Ejisu Municipality.
