There’s no clarity on Covid-19 vaccination; It appears medical practitioners are confused – Prof. Ransford Gyampo

A Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana (Legon) Political Science Department Prof. Ransford Gyampo has questioned the Covid-19 vaccination procedures in Ghana.

The renowned professor says, there is no clarity on the Covid-19 vaccination in the country and it appears even many medical practitioners are confused about the vaccination.

According to him, before one is vaccinated against Hepatitis B, he/she is tested to see whether he/she has the virus. It is only when one tests negative that the vaccine is given.

However, no COVID-19 test is undertaken before vaccines are given. Does it mean that the vaccine would kill the virus if one is already positive or a-symptomatic and goes for the jab? He asked.

Govermment gives details on how the Covid-19 levy will be used

On Wednesday, 24th February, 2021, the Govermment of Ghana has received a total of 600,000 Coronavirus vaccines from the COVAX Facility at the Kotoka International Airport to vaccinate her citizens.

Though the country has officially began a nationwide vaccination exercise, Prof. Ransford Gyampo believes that, there are more information that need to be made available to Ghanaians on the Covid-19 vaccination.
