The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Dominic Akuruntinga Ayine says this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections is the most flawed Election in the fourth Republic of Ghana.
This year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections was held on 7th December, 2020 after which the Electoral Commission of Ghana declared the Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party as the winner of the Presidential election.
After the declaration of the results by the Electoral Commission chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa, the opposition National Democratic Congress rejected the results as declared by the commission with the explanation that there were many irregularities and flaws in the results declared.
Speaking in an interview with Kwesi Pratt on Pan African Tv, Dr. Dominic Ayine said that this year’s election is the most flawed Election in the history of the fourth Republic of Ghana.
According to him, there was vote buying was very high and other illegal acts were perpetrated during this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections which the European observers issued in their report.
Speaking on Talk Time with Kwesi Pratt, Dr. Dominic Akuruntinga Ayine who is a member of the National Democratic Congress’ legal team said;
“I remember you mentioned the European observers, the report that they issued. They said vote buying was rampant and I witnessed that first hand in my Constituency.
Motorbikes were parked under trees, pick ups were packed under trees, voter’s were being called from the queue and being given ¢50, ¢100 to go and vote for the NPP candidate.
My observation is that, I think this election was the most flawed Election in the history of the fourth Republic.”
