Tongu Chiefs Honour Piwak CEO, Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti, for Outstanding Humanitarian Service in Tongu Districts
In a heartfelt ceremony marked by unity and gratitude, the Tongu Chiefs Union honored Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti, the CEO of Piwak Natural Health, for his exemplary humanitarian and philanthropic support of victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage.
The honour, presented in the form of a citation, was delivered by Togbe Komla Sakpiti V, Dufia of Bakpa Awadiwoe-Kome, on behalf of Torgbega Kadzi Zogah II, Paramount Chief of Sokpoe Traditional Area and President of the Tongu Chiefs Union, who represented the Tongu Chiefs Union at the ceremony.
Dr. Mortoti first intervened at the peak of the disaster in October 2023, when flooding caused by the controlled spillage of the Akosombo Dam submerged multiple communities and displaced thousands. Responding swiftly, he and his team at Piwak Natural Health donated essential relief items worth over GH¢40,000, including food, clean water, sanitary kits, clothing, and shelter materials.

Demonstrating continued dedication, he launched a third phase of support in April 2025, where he donated GH¢1,000 in direct financial support to 200 affected individuals – 60 from South Tongu, 60 from Central Tongu, and 80 from North Tongu – totaling GH¢200,000. The distribution event was held at Aveyime-Battor Lorry Station in the North Tongu and was coordinated by Agboni Nicholas Kelvin, popularly known as CoverGhana.
Presenting the citation, Togbe Sakpiti V stated:
“Your timely donation of essential relief items at the peak of the crisis, followed by your generous financial support to 200 affected individuals from the three Tongu districts, stands a powerful testament to your empathy, compassion, and dedication to social responsibility. Your exemplary leadership and benevolence have restored hope and dignity to many and continue to inspire all who seek to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.”

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor (MP for South Tongu), Hon. Victoria Dzeklo (South Tongu DCE), Hon. Dodzi Mornyuie Adison (Central Tongu DCE), Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe (North Tongu DCE), Prof. Kwame Gyan (Senior Lecturer, UG Law School), and Hon. Gloria Dzifa Ashinyo from the Office of the President.
Delivering a brief remark, Hon. Lukutor praised Dr. Mortoti for his kindness and example of true leadership:
“Dr. Mortoti is a shining example of what it means to give back to society. His gesture goes beyond donation—it is an investment in rebuilding lives and restoring dignity.”

In his closing remarks, Togbe Komla Sakpiti V urged all gathered to continue fostering unity and support within the community:
