Top 100 Senior High School Rankings for NSMQ 2024
The EN Analytics Top 100 Senior High School Rankings for the National Science and Maths Quiz competition has been released.
This ranking analysis is based on data from 229 senior high schools across the sixteen (16) regions of Ghana. The ranking is globally accepted and universally trusted by students, teachers, government institutions, and the general public. It has become the gold standard and the main source of reference for students seeking admission into secondary education in Ghana.
The 2024 rankings reveal how the landscape for Mathematics and Science education in Ghana is shifting. The ranking model is based on a school’s final position in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) at the National level and the Category of the school. This year’s (2024) methodology has been significantly updated so that any school that qualifies for the national competition is automatically included in the ranking.
5 Facts About the 2024 Rankings
- Performances for the history books: Mfantsipim’s performances in the 2024 edition of the NSMQ will find its place in the annals of the competition. Their ability to entice their opponents into the riddle segment and knock them out was a novel. They knocked out Prempeh College, Presec-Legon and defeated St. Augustine’s college enroute to lifting the trophy.
- St. Augsutine’s College breaks into top 10: St. Augustine’s College broke into the top 10 for the first time since our rankings began four year ago. It is currently ranked 8th nationally and 3rd regionally.
- A very good year for Central Region schools: Central region dominated this year’s competition from the beginning till end. The region had 6 schools at the quarter finals stage, 4 schools at the semifinals stage, and two schools in the finals who came in first and second respectively.
- Apam is the school with the most significant upward movement in the 2024 rankings. It moved 19 places up from 71st in 2023 to 52nd in 2024. Other significant movers include Mpraeso SHS (84th in 2023 to 70th in 2024), and St. John’s School, Sekondi (from 65th in 2023 to 52nd in 2024)
- Regional disparities: There are significant regional disparities as schools from the newly created regions lack the infrastructure and facilities to compete. Since our rankings began in 2021, no school from Ahafo, North East, Savannah and Western North has made it into the top 100 rankings.
