Two scammers arrested for corrupting Okudzeto’s disaster fundraising flyers meant for flood victims
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has commended the Ministry of National Security and the National Signals Bureau for their prompt response to his complaint by tracking and apprehending two unscrupulous individuals who corrupted my disaster fundraising flyers and duped many unsuspecting Ghanaians.
The names of the two (2) arrested suspects are Promise Ahorgah and Mawuli Kwaotse.
Hon. Okudzeto detailed that a good number of Ghanaians both at home and abroad have reported to him about how the two arrested suspects deceived them through elaborate impersonation methods and collected hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis which were not handed over to flood victims as the donors intended.
An Accra High Court presided by Her Ladyship Lydia Osei-Marfo yesterday, December 5, 2023, ordered their continuous detention. The duo are to reappear in court on the 9th of January, 2024.
“It is sheer evil for heartless characters to take advantage of the trauma and devastation of fellow Ghanaians to defraud and exploit compassionate citizens who seek to offer empathetic assistance to their compatriots in distress,” Hon. Okudzeto expressed his disappointment.
Warning other scammers or/ other cybercriminals, he said “May I add that all those criminals out there scamming Ghanaians in my name through fake social media accounts and those promising protocol recruitments and other dubious opportunities at outrageous amounts should know that their days are numbered. We shall get them!”
Hon. Ablakwa advised the general public to be extra vigilant in their dealings to avoid falling into the hands of such unscrupulous individuals out there using dubious means to earn money.
