The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has received a 46-seater bus and assorted food items from Mr. Yaw Amponsah Marfo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VIP Transport Company to support three orphanage homes in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

The beneficiary orphanage homes were the Mama Laadi Children’s Home, God’s Love Residential Home, and the Centre for Child Development.

The items included 300 bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, bags of sugar, canned tomatoes, and toiletries among others.

The CEO, who is affectionately called ‘Yesu Dea,’ said the donation was God’s direction to him to help the less privileged, and disclosed that he had over the years executed the direction across the country.

“Every year, l select one region to do this kind donation. I thank God for giving me the strength and energy to do His will,” he said.

Mr. Marfo advised the beneficiary orphanage homes to put the bus to good use to help in the upkeep of the children under their care and ensure it was properly maintained to serve them.

Hon. Rex Asanga, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who received the items on behalf of the Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu, and managers of the orphanage homes, thanked the philanthropist for the gesture.

He said orphanage homes were managed on donations from individuals, groups, and organizations, and therefore, appealed for more support for managers of the homes to help in the upkeep of the children.

The MCE indicated that prior to the donation, a Committee, comprising representatives from the three homes and officials from the Municipal Assembly, discussed to operate, manage, and proportionately share the income that would be generated from the bus.

He said the Committee decided that each home would get 25 percent of the income generated totaling 75 percent, and the remaining 25 percent would be used to pay the driver and maintenance of the bus.

Hon. Asanga assured the philanthropist of the proper use of the bus for the intended purpose and advised the beneficiary homes to effectively collaborate and support the Committee to deliver on its mandate.
