Hon. Abanga is the current Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Works and Housing. He also doubles as the Vice Chairman for the Committee on Government Assurance.
The people of Yarigungu, a community located in the Binduri constituency, Upper East Region indicated they have been drinking from dilapidated hand-dug wells since 1992.
Efforts geared towards providing the residents a water prove to be futile.
Today (2023), the Member of Parliament, Hon. Abdulai Abanga has brought forth a new water source after many years, ensuring that the community now has access to clean and reliable water.
The borehole project was promised by Hon. Abanga during his 2020 campaign and is now being delivered in 2023.
The borehole project is an initiative by the Member of Parliament for the area meant to equip the Binduri district with portable drinking water.
The team has drilled so far over one hundred and eighty-one (181) boreholes across the Binduri district and promised to drill more.
Households gathered at the point of drilling to express their heartfelt message.
Narrating, Mr. Abugbun Issifu, spokesperson for the residents stated “We have shared water with reptiles for far too long. We must be rejoicing now because we won’t drink water from frogs fecal matter anymore”.
The general population applauded the Member of Parliament as the project became evident. The people also pledged to cultivate the culture of maintenance in order for the “precious jewelry”, mechanized borehole to last longer after a successful drill and handing over to them.
This assigned role executed by the MP to the people of Yaringungu is a big relief to their burden. The well will serve as a source of drinking water for the people in general.
