The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), continues to face challenges as the Concerned Staff of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) urges President Akufo-Addo to intervene in the ongoing leadership crisis.

The association has called for the immediate withdrawal of Nana Ofori Ansah I’s appointment as Council Chairman of the University and the dissolution of the Council.

The Concerned Staff highlighted various issues within the University that, if left unaddressed, could jeopardize the peaceful environment of the institution. The group expressed concerns about the autocratic tendencies and disregard for established procedures exhibited by Nana Ofori Ansah I, the Chairman of the Governing Council. They believe that his actions and leadership weaknesses have created a tense atmosphere that could potentially escalate into a crisis.

Accusations against Nana Ofori Ansah I include his alleged nurturing of uneasiness and his failure to abide by UEW Statutes and established procedures since assuming office. The Concerned Staff maintains that his continued presence as the Governing Council Chairman poses a threat to the peace and stability of the University.

In a press release, the Concerned Staff stated, “The call for the immediate dissolution of the UEW Governing Council and the subsequent dismissal of Nana Ofori Ansah I from office as Council Chairman of UEW is justified without doubt.” They further emphasized that his purported prioritization of personal interests and the interests of others at the expense of the University and Ghana as a whole is unacceptable.

The appeal to President Akufo-Addo signifies the urgency and seriousness of the situation at the University of Education, Winneba. The Concerned Staff hopes that the President’s intervention will address the leadership crisis and restore a harmonious and conducive environment for academic pursuits.
