UG alumni at Afreximbank donate laptops to University of Ghana in support of “One Student, One Laptop” initiative

In a gesture of generosity and support, alumni from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have donated 20 new laptops to the University of Ghana.
The donation is aimed at supporting the Vice-Chancellor’s “One Student, One Laptop” (1S1L) initiative, which seeks to provide less privileged students with the necessary tools to succeed in their academic endeavours.
The laptops were presented to the university by a delegation of Afreximbank alumni, who expressed their commitment to giving back to their alma mater and supporting the education of future generations.
Receiving the laptops on behalf of the university’s management, Prof. Gordon Awandare, Pro VC (ASA), lauded the alumni for their generosity and support. He emphasized the importance of the 1S1L initiative in ensuring that all students have access to the technology they need to succeed in their studies.
“The donation of these laptops is a significant contribution to our efforts to provide a supportive learning environment for all our students, regardless of their background or financial circumstances,” said Prof. Awandare. “We are grateful to our alumni for their commitment to our university and their dedication to supporting the education of our students.”
The 1S1L initiative was launched by the University of Ghana in response to the challenges faced by students who lack access to laptops and other technology necessary for their studies.
The initiative aims to provide each student with their own laptop, ensuring that they have the tools they need to participate fully in the university’s academic programmes.
