UNICEF presents PPEs to the Department of Social Welfare
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Ghana has presented undisclosed amount of health consumables to the Department of Social Welfare through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The presentation which was made on Saturday, 22nd May, 2020 during a short ceremony includes; non-medical Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), thermometers, hand washing facilities and posters.
According to the management of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Ghana, the items will allow social workers at district level to continue delivering services to vulnerable children, including children with disabilities and deprived of parental care.
UNICEF noted that, the donation to the Department of Social Welfare is part of the United Nations’ efforts to support the Government of Ghana in reducing the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic. They also added that, the donation is to support children at risk in the coronavirus crisis.
