The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has initiated an exciting new program, the Tri-Continental Teacher Training (TTT) program, aimed at providing pre-service teachers with a unique opportunity to gain intercultural experiences and enhance their professional development. The program includes study camps, cultural activities, and collaborative projects with partner universities in Germany and the United States.

Participants from UEW will embark on a four-week Study Camp at the Universität Hamburg (UHH) in Germany, where they will engage in an intensive preparation course and immerse themselves in cultural and university-based activities. Upon their return, they will share their experiences with their colleagues through a series of faculty seminar presentations.

The TTT program is open to all level 300 students pursuing a regular program in Education at UEW. Applicants must have completed six semesters by the end of September 2023, possess good academic records, and demonstrate a commitment to being ambassadors for UEW on the international stage. A valid passport and self-prior sponsorship are also required.

The program aims to enhance professionalism in teacher training studies by exposing participants to different educational systems and encouraging reflection on their own experiences and perceptions.

It provides a platform for participants to observe, analyze, and discuss lessons, educational methods, and systems in Germany, the United States, and Ghana, preparing them for work in diverse classrooms.

Successful applicants will be paired with German partners (buddies) to collaborate on mini-projects and engage in seminars from September to December 2023.

German partners will then visit UEW for a four-week study camp in February 2024. In the summer of 2024, Ghanaian students will travel to Hamburg, Germany, for a cross-cultural exchange program.

Interested students can access the online application form via the provided link. Additionally, they should submit a letter of motivation outlining personal ambitions and contributions to the program, an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV), evidence of academic progression (transcript), and contact information for two referees who can testify to their commitment. Shortlisted applicants will undergo interviews before the final selection is made.

The application deadline for the TTT program is Friday, 28th July 2023.

The University of Education, Winneba is excited to offer this transformative opportunity for pre-service teachers and looks forward to fostering intercultural understanding and professional growth through the Tri-Continental Teacher Training program.
