University of Ghana places first in the 2023 Philip C. Jessup International law Moot court Competition

The University of Ghana has been placed first in the 2023 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, enabling them to secure a place in the 2023 Championship, which was held in the United States.

The members of the UG team were Mr. Emmanuel Kabu Nartey, Miss Emenyo Afi Nutakor, Miss Lois Osei Sekyere, Mr Emmanuel Akpagli, and Miss Maame Aba Asiedu.

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, also known as Jessup Moot or the Jessup is the oldest and largest international moot competition in the world attracting participants from 700 law schools in more than 90 countries in recent years (100 countries took part in the 2018).

The competition has been described as the most prestigious moot court competition in the world by a large number of organizations and universities globally, and is one of the grand slams or major moots.

The best Oralist in the competition went to Mr Kabu Nartey. Ms. Princess Korkor Boateng a level 400 student at the University of Ghana Business School, became the youngest person ever, at the age of 18 to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in Ghana.

Ms. Gifty Atampugbir, a final year MPH student, was one of the 700 young African leaders selected to participate in the 2023 edition of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.
