Mr. Selorm Ameza, a popular Ghanaian writer in his recent press statement said, the nature of Ohawu Agricultural College demands a public attention and support from government to give it a facelift from being deteriorated.

Ohawu Agricultural College (OAC) was established in 1964 by Dr Kwame Nkrumah on a very vast area of land in a small town called Ohawu. But then the school is in a deplorable state with most of its buildings abandoned and infrastructure left to rot.
Like all of the other establishments Kwame Nkrumah built in Ghana, The Ohawu Agricultural College was built to be a world class AGRIC school and the infrastructure built as far back as 1964 should give you a fair view of the vision Nkrumah had for the Ohawu AGRIC College.
According to him, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah built a Dam purposely for the school. And when you see even the deteriorating infrastructure around the Dam today, you would know this was meant to be a world class school.
“He built a large farm for Practicals and Production for the school. He built a Poultry farm section, Cattle Ranch, Huge Silos to store food for years and a large farmland area for cultivation.” He disclosed.

“It was like Nkrumah built the Ohawu Agric college as the AGRIC version of the TECH school which is KNUST in Kumasi and the Arts school which is UG in Accra.”
“The kind of infrastructure in the school, from the bungalows, to the Administration block and even the huge Silos where food is to be stored is evident that Nkrumah had a vision for this school. And that vision should not be allowed to die.”
Mr. Selorm Ameza said, the school needs to be upgraded into a fully fledged University and we can only achieve this if our Members of Parliament speak about it in Parliament for the Minister to take it up. There’s so much land to develop and build modern school structures and Ohawu is a perfect place to have an AGRIC and Tech University. And a University in that area would mean development for all the Towns in that area like Abor, Tadzewu, Devego, Dzodze etc etc.
Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful praised for transforming old School t0ilet into an Ultra-modern one
“I pray our TV/Radio stations would pick this up and make news out of it. Every single person would be appalled if you should visit Ohawu and see how this school is just left to rot when it can be easily upgraded into a University. This could be a good Legacy for President Nana Addo in the Volta Region.”
