V/R: Mahama’s community day SHS tops WASSCE performance in North Tongu

Reports available to Coverghana Media Network (Coverghana.com.gh) disclosed that, a Community Day Senior High School built by former president John Dramani Mahama thus; Volo Community Senior High School is ranked the best performing school among five (5) SHSs in the North Tongu District of the Volta region.

Though Volo Senior High School topped the 2019 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the general performances of schools in the North Tongu District is worrying as stakeholders express disappointment in the 2019 WASSCE results.

The 2019 WASSCE results published by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) saw Volo Senior High School (VOLOSEC) at the top with 18% pass followed by Aveyime-Battor Senior High Technical School (ABAST) with 12% pass where Dorfor Senior High School (DORSEC)p third with 9% pass. The Battor Senior High School (BASEC) according to the report came 4th with 3% pass and Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School placed last with 2% pass.

The statistics show that;

1. VOLO COMMUNITY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL presented 220 candidates and 39 passed making 18%.

2. AVEYIME BATTOR SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL presented 280 candidates and only 33 passed that making 12%.

3. DORFOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL presented 250 candidates and only 23 passed that is 9%.

4. BATTOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL  presented 124 candidates and only 4 passed which translates into 3%.

5. MEPE ST. KIZITO SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL presented 218 candidates and only 5 passed which is 2%.

The statistics further shows that, the North Tongu Education Directorate presented a total of 1093 Candidates for the 2019 WASSCE out of which 104 passed representing 44%. The 44% pass represents students who scored between A1 and E8 in the examination.
