President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says, the teaching profession is not meant to make Ghanaian teachers Millionaires overnight.
According to the President, the teaching profession is designed for teachers to make their selfless contributions to the development and welfare of Ghana.

Addressing the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at a meeting held on Friday, 9th July, 2021 at the seat of the Presidency, towards the Union’s 90th anniversary preparation, he said, there’s no where in the world where individuals go into teaching expecting to become millionaires overnight.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has noted that, the selfless and sacrificial efforts of Ghanaian teachers in educating our Ghanaian citizens/children is commendable.

He has therefore urged all teachers to positively contribute to the welfare of the country to Ghana develop.
“The nation shall continue to be grateful to all teachers for their sacrificial efforts to educate and train younger generation” He explained.

In the contrary, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo added that, if Ghanaian teachers want to become millionaires, they must do other things to become rich, but must not depend on teaching job to become rich.
He further explained that, most individuals enter the teaching profession because they want to contribute their quota to the development and welfare of the country. He believes that, most teachers in Ghana have demonstrated this over the years in their respective roles.

He has also lauded teachers for their positive contributions to the development and growth of Ghana.
