Kwadwo Asare Konadu Gyamfi, a student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was recently saved by his fellow students as he tried to take his own life by jumping from an eight-story hostel block on campus.
A video, shared by The KNUST Voice, a social media page dedicated to campus news, depicted Gyamfi, reportedly a medical student, hanging from a balcony in a desperate act of suicide.
Fortunately, his colleagues arrived in time, grabbing hold of him and successfully pulling him to safety by detaching the balcony. Following the circulation of the video, a purported suicide note, allegedly left behind by Gyamfi, also surfaced on social media.
In the note, Gyamfi expressed condolences to his parents, siblings, and friends, while explaining that his decision had been difficult to reach but seemed like his only option.
He attributed his circumstances to depression, which had led him to perceive life as devoid of meaning mentioned hallucinations of demons and hearing them speak.
