Who will succeed Chief Iman after his exit? – Umaru Amadu quizzes

On April 23, 2018, Ghanaian Broadcast journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu asked his fellow Muslims who will succeed the National Chief Iman, Shiek Uthman Nuhu Sharubutu after his exit.

Umaru Amadu’s futuristic question has left many people shocked because, some fellow Muslims are of the view that majority of the new grow of Muslims seems not to be for to occupy the position of the National Chief Iman if Allah calls him at the right time.

“Death is a thief and he may come any day. Dear Ghanaian Muslims, if death came tonight, would we be ready to move on like Ghanaians did on July 24, 2012 when President Mills left? I’m saying this because I don’t want to be part of journalists to report a nasty aftermath. Wa Salaam,” Umaru Amadu quizzed his fellow Ghanaian Muslims.

Who succeeds our beloved Chief Imam?

I’m watching the social media space and I see many people, particularly, Muslims, celebrating the National Chief Imam, Sheik Uthman Nuhu Sharubutu. The President of Ghana and his Vice went to join him celebrate this blessed day. Our Imam is loved by many, for the guidance and leadership he’s given the Muslim ummah since he assumed that role.
But there’s a difficult, painful but frank conversation that must be had.

According to the official account, Mallam is 99 today. He’s ageing beautifully. But no man shall defeat death- at least, not in this generation. I know it’s an awkward thing to discuss on his birthday of all days, but being the learned man that he is, I know he’ll have no problem with me saying it.

My question is, who have we, as Ghanaian Muslims, started grooming to replace the old man when he eventually goes. The news of what happened prior to his assumption of office is still fresh in the memories of many. We must never witness that again because it was nasty.

The Chief Imam has a deputy, but from what I gather from close pals, the deputy is older and weaker than the Imam himself. Indeed, I’m told the deputy hasn’t gone to the mosque for months due to ill health. This is a reminder that our two leaders aren’t gonna be here forever and we need to start discussing a clear succession plan.
