The Headmaster of Worawora Senior High School (SHS), Mr. Michael Damesi pleads with the government and GES to make WORASEC STEM centre.
“I wish the government could make WORASEC a STEM centre,” he said in an Adom TV news monitored by CoverGhana.
To him, making Worawora SHS a STEM centre will attract more and earn them more support in order for the school to improve on it.
According to the Headmaster, the performance of the school will attract many investors and philanthropists to support the school gain more global recognition and become a hub to nurture many other young talents.
Already, the people of Worawora both at home and abroad are supporting the school. The old students are not exempted from the support team, Mr. Michael Damesi calls for and appreciates the efforts of benevolent supporters.
Further, the headmaster in his submission said they need more support because their plans require more resources to paint more beautiful pictures.
STEM education in Worawora SHS cannot be discussed without the big brain behind it, Teacher Aboagye.
In a public statement, Teacher Aboagye said “STEM education is not all about robotics. The Agriculture students of Worawora SHS want to engage in research garden but in STEM Education, we don’t do things because the book says so but it’s based on your research guarded in your community.

The Worawora Traditional Council appreciated the efforts of Teacher Aboagye for his tremendous and selfless contribution to STEM Education.
The students of WORASEC have worked on numerous projects using solar energy to power their inventions.
They have championed projects like:
- Adjamansu project
- Rural electrification project
- Odometer Nurses project
- A collaborative effort between the JHS & Worawora SHS project
- Abotoase market project
- Solar Powered Water Fountain (it can be built in varied designs with the right resources)
- Smart water dispenser
Kindly note that Worawora SHS is a Category C school.
The Water Fountain project was built using Solar energy. They also built a Moisture Sensor to solve some of Ghana’s major challenges.
The projects embarked on by these brilliant students and their teacher(s) suggest that Ghana must diversify the education given to the future generation for the right outcome.
Ghana has to consider the divergent talents students have and smash off the bookish caliber of education it has been feeding students with over decades.
The right platforms, attention, and adequate support must be given to students in order to soar technology and technical education in the current dispensation.

There are myriad talents out there who are willing to showcase their innate abilities when STEM education is promised a bright future.
According to the student team behind the inventions, they are poised to address some of Ghana’s major problems.
Listing, the team mentioned flooding, irrigation, and water usage/storage.
Explaining how they will solve the problems, they said with the help of installing their built Moisture sensor in the flood-prone areas, it would alert inhabitants of the area to know the next action to be taken. However, the next big picture of the project in line with solving the flood problem will be discussed at the right time because that option will make the image clearer.
The team explained that irrigation in farming is also another major problem in Ghana. They, the students of Worawora SHS through STEM Education will address the problem.
They said the Moisture sensor will help farmers to sprinkle water on their crops. It will detect the soil moisture. Knowing the amount of water in the soil will inform how and the amount of water that should be pumped/sprinkled into the soil.
When the sand/soil is dry, the sensor will signal to the pump for the next and right action.
The sensor has the ability to command pump and stop the pump.
A moisture sensor has been built to detect the level of water in various homes. By placing the sensor at the brim of your water barren or tank, it will signal the pump to either stop (level reached) or pump (until it reaches the required level) as programmed to execute.
