2022 BECE registration process and examination Dates

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has given an update on the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a briefing, WAEC head in charge of examination has announced a proposed date for the 2022 BECE registration and commencement of examination.

Briefing on 2022 BECE Registration

According to WAEC, registration for the 2022 BECE will start on 3rd May, 2022 across the country.

Registration for both BECE School candidates and Private candidates have been synchronized. Thus both will run concurrently.

Also, registration for School candidates is supervised by Ghana Education Service whilst those of the Private is handled by authorized internet cafes.

Examination Questions

WAEC explained that, both School and Private candidates will answer the same questions.

Name of Candidates

The West African Examination Council has directed that, candidates name should not exceed 40 characters. (The name of the candidate together with intervening spaces should not exceed 40 characters).

Candidates With Special Assessment Needs

Details of candidates with special assessment needs which require access arrangements should be forwarded to WAEC before 14th of June, 2022. Such requests should be accompanied with medical reports indicating the specific diagnoses and assistance required. The head of school should also write a detailed report to support.

Note: You are expected to contact the office early enough for assessment by the Special Education (SPED) coordinator.

Continuous Assessment Scores

Capturing of Continuous Assessment scores and subsequent uploading will be done in June and School Selection in July.

Date for 2022 BECE

WAEC has clarified that, the 2022 BECE will be written in October 2022 but not November 2022 as been speculated. The final timetable is yet to be released by the WAEC in collaboration with GES.

Registration of Students who are not in JHS

Please note that it is against the rules and regulations of the examination to register students who are in the first or second year in the Junior High School and those who are not bona fide students of your school.
