Promotions are important for all employees as it moves them a step higher in their field of work. The Ghana Education Service (GES) ensures that every year, teachers who are due for promotion get registered for an examination which helps assesses their readiness for this next level in the field of work.
This year, there were a lot of controversies surrounding the results of the promotion exams written by over 256 teachers across the country. The results had indicated that a lot of teachers failed the exams and this caused series of backlash especially from affected teachers.
The issue was then petitioned before the Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum by the aggrieved teachers who preferred the papers to be remarked.
Out of the embattled 256 candidates who sat for the teachers’ promotion exams, 230 have been declared to have successfully passed after the Minister for Education ordered a remarking which means about 90% are through leaving only 26 who couldn’t make the mark.
