66% of Pupils in Greater Accra failed the National Standardized Test -EduWatch

The CEO of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare has disclosed that 66% of Pupils in the Greater Accra Region have failed the National Standardized Test (NST).
Kofi Asare disclosed in a public post questioning how some overpopulated classes are managed by class teachers. In the said public post, he said “So the Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Basic School in Papase, Ga West Municipal, how does the Class 4 teacher(s) manage the 120 pupils in one room for any effective activity-based learning?”
Looking at Ghana’s education sector, there are proper structures that will invite a sound mind for teaching and learning. Out there, there are classroom sizes that are 200% higher than what the Ghana Education Service (GES) has recommended.
This challenge is evident in a lot of Accra public schools including Unraniya Islamic BS (Ga South) and Oyibi Presby.
Kofi Asare lamented that the above schools’ classrooms are not spacious. There is no space between the teacher’s table and that of the pupils.
“No wonder 66% of Class 4 students from Greater Accra failed to meet basic proficiency levels in Math at the NST. We are not building new classrooms/schools in urban areas even though the urban population is growing by about 35% every decade.”
Sarcastically he responded to a comment that “Don’t ask me what we should do”, the GES and other relevant authorities know the problem on the ground already. They know the challenges public schools are facing issues.
GES is aware of the reasons behind the failure of the 66% of pupils in Greater Accra from the National Standardized Test (NST).
