The Australian High Commissioner to Ghana’s 12 year-old daughter Tilly is set to competes in Australia’s annual Threatened Species Bake-off.
The competition will be Hosted by the national Threatened Species Commissioner, the #TSBakeoff is an annual event which taps into fellow Australians’ love for cooking cakes to raise awareness about the plight of the country’s endangered species.
The Australian High Commissioner who shared the information calling for the public support for the daughter said, “this year, Tilly is entering a Leatherback turtle. Australia’s marine turtles are threatened by ocean debris and plastics as well as climate change. West Africa’s coasts have marine turtles too. And I know that by working together and raising awareness, we can save them.”
“I admire the way Tilly has decorated her cake with discarded plastics to demonstrate their threat. What do you think of the finished product? How do you think we can all work together to stop plastics going into the ocean?” He asked.
See below some photos of Tilly’s artwork.
